Austin HunterDakota Arms Action Value
I ran across a complete (with bottom) Dakota Arms African action today with a Rigby bolt face. It also has detachable 30mm rings and the whole thing is color case hardened. I believe it is new.
What is this worth?

GeorgeSOffer the OWNER of the shop $1200 now, tell them the offer is good for thirty days, and leave them your card with your phone number.
Chances are you'll get at least a counter-offer within a week.

Dall85Frankly, I would snap it up right now. Negotiate the best deal you can and walk away, unless it is only of passing interest.

HarrisA new Dakota 76 with detachable rings and color case hardened for $1800? Why are you still thinking?
Grab it.

But not to the proponents of The Doctrine of Conspicuous Consumption; their only criterion seems to be the price tag.

kcstottOne mans bargain is another mans rip off.
I wouldn't give a plug nickel for a boat load of diamonds (unless of course they are industrial grade and can be used to dress my grinding wheels)
But a boat load of actions??? well thats a different story

Don SlaterI don't want to be the spoil sport here, but was any damage done to the action as a result of the case hardening job? A defective action isn't worth anything!

Austin Huntergood question; don't know. Is there a way to tell/test?

Don SlaterI don't know how to test it, but many top smiths will no longer case harden bolt actions due to warping, etc.
I think I'd pass just to be sure!

Maybe there is a reason the price is so good?

Nomo4meThat dakota bolt fits pretty snugly in the receiver. If it works smoothly I'd say it's straight enough for use.
