Duane Wiebe (CG&R)If it's marked 2-3/4...that would work I'm trying to dope out if I can safely open a 2 1/2" 20 ga to 2-3/4.
Also have an early 16..2 9/16 chamber, I believe..Ejection port on 20 and 16 are the same. These are both REALLY early guns!..Not stamped 2 3/4 Chamber on either

It's a 2 3/4 marked. I used this as a teenager in the 60s, and could win most any shooting match I wanted to; the thing is choked like a rifle.
Squirrels too. Killed a deer with it too.

LesBrooksYou can alter the win. 20 and 16 to take the 2 3/4 in. We had a reamer for both to cut chamber slightly longer. The action slot had to be cut forward about .100 . Look in the receiver where the locking bolt fits and see if it is hammered out before changing to 2 3/4. The breech bolt will drop down and a new headspace ring will not fix the problem. Someone would weld up the receiver and recut the slot, but I don;t think it is worth the cost to have the repair done.
We also converted the Brn 16 short chamber. , but there are several things to change. Too many to mention here.

Duane Wiebe (CG&R)Thanks, Dcpd...thats exactly the same as the 2.5 20 and the 2 9/16 16 that I have. Tells me that was not change in production.
Les: you most like had the special chamber reamer that cut on the pull from the muzzle. In my case, thee is no battering of the locking surfaces.
I do not have a 2 3/4 20 to examine for other differences
Might be just easier to buy 2 1/2" shells..I see they are available in 1 oz loads. Thanks again

Dall85RST makes some great 2.5" shells. I have used them for several years. Customer service has been very good!

AtkinsonI always got better patterns with 2.5" shells in 20 and 16 ga shotguns. Ordered them out of London at the time, they were black..had to buy by the case thru some outfit I don't recall it been years, but I would love to have a Mod. 12, 2.5 16 or 20..Jim Brockman, Gooding, Id. may have 2.5 shotgun shells, he did at one time..The patterned better in a 2-3/4 also as I recall.

coopsdadYou may want to try measuring new, fired 2 3/4" shells. I have some older Remington plastic shells marked 2 3/4" that were actually 2 9/16", the black game loads.
