Re: UMMM I have a length dilemma
PS I think you might want to look at a Winchester or other action thats a bit larger in their short action mag lenght. Wally pointed out the Win is 3.05" as is the MRC and if I remember right the Ruger is about the same. This would help with your OAL. I have absolutly No experiance with the 338x284 so I`m guessing that you might be a tad long for the Rem action. I do know though that the two Rem 700 shorts I have both run 2.80 in the mag, MAX!

PS
Now that I have your attention, here is my dilemma.
Well here goes...So said hunter wants a light weight deer stick too carry around...but like all good dreamers, said hunter wants a fair amount of knonck down power when good head gets in the way
So dreamer sends out the search across the net...He comes up with the 284x338 as the perfect compromise ( nearly set in stone).
So IT wants a short action to keep the weight thing down and preferably the 700ADL.......BUT is this too SHORT to take, say a 225gr Woodleigh?????? BTW the 225 will be the biggest pill it will have to digest.
Will the short 700 accept the length of the 284x338x225gr woody combo, how much Box Extending will be needed or more to the point is there enough room to do it and feed properly. I don't want to bury it into the case. Or will I have to bite the bullet and and....go back to the drawing board.
If you can help, THANKS.
