metalRigby Peep Sight
I'm repairing a Rigby cocking piece peep, it has a grub screw coming in from the top at a 45 deg. angle to retain it. The screw is missing.
Any idea of what thread it might be? The minor diameter of the hole is 1/16", i.e. tapping size. Thanks.

Mike RoweI'd look at BA's. A lot of those screws in English and Scottish stuff of that period can be closely matched by UNF's, and occasionally a metric. Work on 'em long enough, and you'll have a whole drawer full of taps and dies.

eagle27Almost guarantee the thread will be BA. Having done a lot of work on English firearm related accessories I have the set of BA taps and dies and screws needed for this type of work. They are still not uncommon here and shouldn't be in Oz either. UNF won't match but will be close enough to allow a UNF tap to rethread the hole.
