Chuck NelsonTalley peep and barrel band question
First I'm wondering if anyone has a picture of the Talley peep mounted on a rifle. That seems to be a pretty elusive commodity.
Second, how far ahead of the fore end should a barrel band/barrel mount sling stud be?
Thanks a bunch.

BlacktailerGo for it Baxter. I could take my scope off and take a pic but don't really want to find out how repeatable the return to zero is in the middle of deer season.

Von GruffAs far as the barrel band goes, usually about half the length of the barrel but at least 2 1/2 - 3 inches with 4 or more being better. The forend and barrel lengths comes into play with this though.

Chuck NelsonThanks Baxter!
Who made those bases? And if I could beg, could you snap a photo of the entire rifle? Man that looks great!

BaxterBThe front sight is an NECG Universal. It has the medium blade in it. I have just got to working on loads for this and am not yet sure if it is the right height blade. It is adjustable so it should be ok. I previously had a Brockman pop-up peep and the medium blade worked fine. The Talley 'seemed' to be about the same height as the BRockman so I thought it would work.

BaxterB.455. But do your own geometry for your rifle, as I say, I believe this whole setup will work but havn't quite got there yet. Good Luck!

BaxterBI'm working on a grip cap that will be large enough to hold the peep. That is a drawback of a separate peep. Its slow going but I think it will work fine and solve a problem I have yet to.
Once more thing, the bases of course are not Talley, but Gary did the work to grind off the rear shoulder for me no problem. I also sent him the front base and asked if he could throw them in their blueing tank so that they would match the peep better and he did that as well.
