price range for mauser action?
I found a VZ24 mauser action that I am interested in buying. It is drilled and tapped for a scope mount and the bolt handle is bent down. The action itself has no pitting or rust and operates very smoothly. he is asking $150 for it. Do you think that is too much or is this a good deal? What would be the average price reange for an action like this?

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

Well depending on the action you would pay $60-120 for the action alone. Then $20-30 to drill and tap and another $25-50 to alter the bolt. I would say in the condition you are discribing $150 is very reasonable.

If the action weren't modified, would you be doing the work yourself? That price range sounds reasonable for the work that has been done. If you shopped around you could probably find something a little cheaper but not by that much, and if the fit and finish are good on this one that needs to be taken into consideration too.

I pay $75. to $100. for Mauser Actions unless it is something special like a G33-40 or Chilean 1935...which I would then pay up to $350.

sorry I forgot to add that a new welded on bolt handle is a $75.00 job and D&T is $10.00 per hole. so your in the ball park if all else is well.
