Gentlemen,
I just purchased a Ruger #1 in 9.3x74 and have also purchased a semi-inletted 2-piece exhibition Bastogne replacement stock. I am looking for someone to finish her out (classic oil finish, of course)and checker her for me. I am not looking for the cheapest or fastest but someone who will do a quality job at a fair price and turn this into a rifle I can be proud to carry. Would like to stay in Texas, but don't have to... any ideas?

He did the re-work on my Whitworth for Tip Burns and did Rusty's .404s if I recall correctly.

MJinesJohn did the stock work on the .458 Win Mag Tip built for me on a Springfield action. He did a fine job.

Thanks again for sending me John's phone number and providing references. I spoke with him on the phone today and he is a super nice guy. He is taking on my project and I am dropping rifle and stock off to him on Friday. Will let you know how it turns out!

His peers may kick him out of the profession for not making you wait a couple of years and not giving you the run-around.
The rifle really looks nice. We want to see a range report posted here by Sunday evening. Have fun with that rifle.

John is refinishing my double. His talent and turnaround are unmached. His a pretty darn nice guy too.

Yep thats mine, John is replacing the slivers pad with a nice soft pad. He is also slimming down that Beavertail forarm into more of a splinter. The William Douglass is the best value IMO on the used double rifle market. It would take 25-30K plus to re-produce it now.
John is one of the very few that I would trust with a double even to restock. He is a truly gifted.

You made a good selection too, Tip is a true crafsman. Some of his work is truly amazing and he is so nonchalant about it.

I know this post is old but how does the WD look with the splinter fore end? I have a WD and I am thinking of getting the same work done to mine plus a grip cap with trap, They are a great rifle any pics of the work? Thanks
