This will be a one-off pattern I have to make for a Fraser reproduction. But it's 6 mos to a year away.

Drop block? Haven't seen one but I would think it could be copied.

Thanks Paul,

Can I send you copy of the wood shape (on paper),
and a copy of the stocks shapes (paper),
so you can look at the sizes?

I thought of adding a fore end tip of a contrasting wood to the shorter pistol stock,
maybe a lighter/darker laminated wood etc.

You can send me a PM with your address, for the paper copy's etc.

You have the knowledge/experience doing this type of work,
so any Ideas/thoughts, I am all ears/eyes, as I don't have clue,
as to wood working etc.

Tia,
Don

Confused If the question is "If my finished stock is 16" how much over 16" do I need the blank to be"?

While more is better scrap can be glued on each end. Key is to insure that your rear cut on the butt is actually in the finished wood. So while you could probably get by with an extra 1/4 if the set up was perfect I would prefer more like 1"+. Top and bottom I trim to about 1/4" clearance on the band saw then remount and use the duplicator.

This one is back at the metalsmith's being barreled, ramped and front sight. Then I have to build a pattern stock for it for you. Then it goes to Roger for some beautification. Then when I recover financially from all that it gets finished:

That barrel in the picture was .416-500 NE. I decided (wisely for a change) to re-barrel it in 30 caliber before I went further with it. I still have the reamer if someone wants to buy it. Going to put it and a lot of other stuff over in the classifieds later this week.

I'd be happy to cut it. But, I don't have a pre64 pattern. I have the new models but I don't remember for sure which and I'm away from home.the rest of.the week. Do you have a stock we could use? Bondo works.
