my dad is looking for a winter project and is looking at stocks from richards. Does anyone have any experience with them? Quality of inletting? Quality of wood in AA grade? I use lots of McMillans but dad can't warm up to fiberglass.

Their stocks are average at best, customer service pretty much sucks, and they are usually slower than molasses in January. You can do a search for opinions other than mine.

Yes, I do. Don't get one. Get just about anybody else's. There is way, way too much wood on them, the inletting is out alignment with the centerline of the stock and they take about four months to get.

I have pictures of my gun with its Richards stock somewhere in these pages. It's under "MRC Action Question." OLBIKER started the thread about a week to ten days ago. I made the last post to it on July 27. I chose the Thumbhole Target stock...

Their nickname in the gunsmithing industry, Richards Micro $hit is well deserved.

And I heartily agree. When a client brings one over, he doesn't stay very long.

Roll Eyes On the possitive side; If you are looking to do a lot of whittling while building a truck gun ,that's the place to go. I just drive over and pick up someting from their seconds pile. coffeeroger

Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

I bought a Wildcat Thumbhole from their closeout list around 6 years ago there service was great it arrived in less than a week (to the UK). The inletting was ok and I had planned to bed it anyway the finishing was rough but nothing a couple of hours sanding didn't sort out. If I was in the market for a laminate stock I would use them again.
