500nitroBrno 602 safety
Guys,
I am having a 602 in 458 winmag converted to a new 45 cal rifle - 460 Bauer.
The gunsmith is Alan Henry of Natal Gunsmithing Services over here.
I will want to at some stage change the safety to a more conventional flick forward to fire mechanism.
I know it will require some fitting by a competent and qualified gunsmith and I have no intention of trying it myself, but was wondering who makes an aftermarket product for this.

BNagelEd Lapour makes a great kit. Your 'smith will have to install and may have to do some fitting work. My 602 has one put on by a good 'smith locally. You will lose the field strip function of the 602 bolt -- in case you wanted to know.

MasteriflemanAmerican Hunting Rifles makes one also and it is very nice. I think it's significantly cheaper than LaPour's but probably no better. They used my 602 to make the first one and it also uses a "filler" to replace the original safety. Oh, by the way, it is a Model Winchester style safety and not just a modification of the original BRNO safety.

MasteriflemanJust checked their website, looks like prices have gone up considerably. LaPour might be the better choice.

You mean to say you can't disassemble the bolt with the saftey lever in the mid position, like a regular M70?

BNagel
The button on the left that allows you to depress (bolt cocked) and unscrew for disassembly goes away in the conversion. It is a 3-pos safety a la Winchester version. And, you are right about disassembly using the mid position. (Thanks for that -- didn't have it worked out, having only the one Brno and no M70s.)
