Has anyone taken or know anything about the AGI lathe course by Darrell Holland? i know he is a reknowned gunsmith, but I am wondering if this course is worth the money. Thanks Clem

haven't heard about the course, the cost or where it is held. I know that Mark Stratton is putting one on at Trinidad State in Colorado this summer as part of the NRA summer gunsmithing program. i am not sure what his class entails but I took his barrel fitting class in 99 and it was fantastic.

My cost for the class then including tuiting and room and board was around $450 for the week. One hell of a bargain in my mind.

I just did a search and found it on the net. Video course for $479. I will take the week in Trinidad with a wealth of equipment and good instruction over that. BTW, I got 4 barrels fitted, 5 receivers surface ground and a quarter rib pretty much complete in the week. And had almost no lathe experience before I went.

Clem,

Until they come up with a gunsmithing video that can reach out and smack you when you screw up, the money spent for "hands on" training is the best value going...

Anyone know about the Colorado School of Trades gunsmithing course, 1 year long I think?
