Which Action?
Alright, so I just got the okay to build a medium/big game rifle for my father. I am thinking about doing it in .35 Whelen. What 98 actions would work best with this round? If you have one for sale, let me know.

The 06' length commercial FN 98 actions are pretty sweet, and shouldn't require any work to get them to feed properly. The standard 98's such as the 1909 DWM or VZ 24 are easily modified for such rounds.

FISH!!

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Just about any standard length 98-type action will work fine for a .35 Whelen. A Model of 1903 would make an even better choice.

Ditto, start with a commercial FN if you want a best quality action and don't want to spend alot on gunsmithing.

ive got a 1909 argentine and a short-chambered .35 whelen bbl, 100 rds new brass... i go the receiver in a trade a couple months ago, bought the bbl here on AR... got the brass from tip burns....its a project i've lost interest in, i can take pics later in the week, if you're interested... $375 plus shipping takes it, as the receiver has a s/n it has to go to an FFL that will receive it from an individual...

Jim, please do send some pictures. I am interested in it, and the FFL transfer wont be an issue.

What barrel?

If anyone has one of these easy to find $200 complete actions I read about let me know... Big Grin

When you consider a barrel for your 35 Whelen, make sure you get one with a faster twist then 1:16 if you reload and want to shoot bullets heavier than 250gr.
