StonecreekRecommendations for a stock checkerer
I need a craftsman to checker a refinished stock. Someone sanded off all of the factory checkering when they did a stock refinish on a rifle I recently purchased. The wood is actually pretty nice, but I'd like to have some basic 18 LPI checkering on the grip and forearm to make gripping more positive.
Anyone have a recommendation of a checkering service to do a basic and economical job on a refinish?

ACRecurveAhlmans can do a good, inexpensive basic pattern.
www.ahlmans.comFor more intricate work I have used Sherry Abraham.
www.checkering.comSeveral of the posters here on AR are also most capable of very good checkering work....maybe some will chime in.
Good luck!

StonecreekThanks for the recommendations. It looks like from their price list that a basic job is available for as little as $50.

Gringo CazadorI'd recommend Bill Soverns, he just did one for me and i will be sending him another in the future.
But I wouldnt do it 18 lines, I'd do at least 24.

CustomstoxStonecreek, it is no more positive at 18 than at 24. And 24 looks a hell of a lot better. Check with Bill Soverns, a great guy who does excellent work.
