Began work on mine this summer:

It's a Vz-24 Mauser. Had a 24" Shillen barrel (0.700" muzzle) in 9,3x62 installed this summer. Also had the bolt replaced and the rear of the receiver machined smooth so could drill 2 holes for the rear scope mount. Drilled the front receiver holes, reblued, added Weaver bases plus their quad rings, did the stock work and the bedding.

Put an old Weaver K2.5 scope on it but it broke under recoil, so just put a Bushell 4X on it to have something to shoot. I'm still working up my reloads. Currently got a 286 NPT going 2,430 fps across my chrono using IMR-4320. Will be my carry around hog rifle this fall but hope to get to Africa next year.

Have one. Also have a confirmed order for a No. 1 in .30-40 Krag. Only problem is the No.1 order was confirmed in 1971 and I still haven't gotten the gun!! Ol' Bill Ruger hisself promised me in person in 1983 (when I collar-buttoned him at the NRA Annual Meeting) that he'd see to it that I got it within 90 days. I'm still waiting, and ol' Bill's gone....and the fella who was chief legal counsel at the time and is now Ruger's President has told the local Ruger reps to tell me to forget it, I'm never gonna get it. This after they held my checks for 26 years.

Part that irks the most is that they DID make a few. Lynn Lidice had at least two of them in his collection. And I don't wanta collect it, I wanta hunt with it, which ol' Bill could appreciate even if the modern management can't.!!

This thread started back in 2007. Since then I've acquired most of the chamberings I have wanted.

Just had one done on a FN in 7.65x53.

There is the 6.5 Grendel on a mini-Mauser, which is in progress now.

I suppose there are three left. 6.5x284, 8x60S, and a 323 Hollis.
