I know there are rings made. From whom? Any experiences? Are they quick detachable? Do they return to zero?
Also: mounts? detachable? hold zero?
I am thinking about 2 glasses: one for stalking ( 1.1-4 ) and one for low light ( 8x56 ). Already have one of those.
Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks H

using handloads i've got mine shooting 5 shot grps at 100 yds .724" using 270gn semi-spitzers and 64gns of IMR 4350. Haven't taken it against Maine moose of Pennsylvania Elk, but soon enough i hope to.
I'm also the first one on my block to have even heard of the 9,3 letalone use it namely because it's relatively obscure here in the states, or at least by me anyway.
hope this helps
Frankly, I planned about using 4064 ( or my darling 4350 ) for this one. Regrettably, no one makes a cheap 286 grainer.
I think I will have Lees case trimmer and factory crimp die especially for this chambering!
Good Shooting! H
Have thought about the Magnum in .375, too, but it is available in .416 Rigby, too, I would not like to buy the "smallest" one, but the .416 is ridiculous in Europe, so I looked for the 9.3 ...

They are steel and well made, but a little high for my taste.. They should accomodate that 56 MM objective that you Europeans are so fond of.....<< big GRIN>>
You will be pleased to know that my CZ-550 American in 9.3 x 62 is VERY accurate with IMR 4064 with Speer 270 gr., Nosler 250 Ballistic tips and Barnes X 250 grain...
The Speers are the cheapest at around $12 plus shipping from Midway...Nosler BT's are a couple of bucks more expensive and the barnes and Nosler 286 Partitions are around $32 per 50......
Me, Im the one who uses the lowest mounts available cause I have more feel for the rifle. For this reason I use several US mounts.
Good shooting! H

I have been looking into this same question lately for rings for my BRNO .375 H&H. I have a set of the BRNO (CZ) one-piece bases with rings now. They are kind of ugly and 3 or 4 mm higher than my 2.5-8x Leupold scope demands, but they hang on to a scope with a death grip and have not slipped with loads that loosen my teeth.
Talley has made their wonderful rings for the BRNO dovetails in the past, but does not currently do so (as of Dec 2000 when I emailed them last). You could email talley and see if they have decided to make a production run yet "Talley Mfg. Inc." <talley@trib.com>
Warne makes a set of rings to fit the Brno dovetails and I've heard that they are quite good. The look nice, but I haven't used them.
Millet makes rings to fit as well. I bought a pair, but I never shot the rifle with them mounted because I do not think they will even hold against .375 H&H recoil. They just seem too wimpy, although they are probably fine for .338 magnums and less. I returned these rings without ever using them.
Conetrol (www.conetrol.com or email@control.com) makes BRNO (CZ) bases and quick-detach rings which seem perfect (yes, these are NOT the usual projectionless Conetrol rings which are not quick detachable).. I've corresponded with the boss there, and he reports that they have sold'em for decades without problems. He seems like a straight-up guy and I beleive him. Also, I have examined many Conetrol rings and bases on other makes of rifles over the years and they are well-engineered and expertly machined. The Conetrol bases are quite small and unobtrusive. Currently, I think I'm going to go with the Conetrol bases (for extra security affixed with a blob of epoxy which will release if warmed a bit) and the horizontally-split Conetrol quick detach rings.

I'm not too sure I follow your last post so I may have the wrong end of the stick here:-)...
These scopes are going to need different rings so the hight can be choosen to suit.
The eyepeice should not be a problem, but the 56mm objective will be! Also I'm not sure
if 26mm tubes = the standard American 1"
It seems you can get 25mm & 26mm tubes in Europe, but I can't remember which is interchangable with the 1" tubes. A mate of mine bought a Swarovski scope which was not the 1" and it caused him major headaches getting the right rings. Even measuring the scope body did not help as the mic showed something like 25.6mm!
Once you settle which tube size is needed, I would order a set of medium and high via credit card on the understanding I could return the ones which are not required.
The small scope should fit in most low mounts
although again if you ordered mediums as well
you'd have all the bases covered.
Once the scopes are intalled, I would take a very fine black marker pen and make index marks on the scope tube tight against each ring...This will show any signs of the scope creeping under recoil..Black on black does show up enough for this purpose.

Pete
My question was especially if a low mount ( 30 mm ) would not interfere with the bolt handle, or if a medium high is indicated. For the higher mount of the bigger glass there should be no problem there, here I would like to know if anybody knows where to get rings for that diameter.
If no 26 mm rings, I will use the scope for another rifle - no problem, it pays to be a gun nut ;-))
Thanks and I try to be more precise in the future. H

Another thing which govern which mounts are high enough is how far forward you slide the scope in the rings. This is because the underside of the objective is tapered while the barrel has the opposite tapper!
These are all problems I have encountered in the past when buying mounts mail order!:-)
Now I either take the rifle and scope into a gunshop and try them physically, or as I suggested abover, I order two sets of differing heights and pick the lowest!
What is your 8x56mm?? I have a 8x56mm S&B on my .223 for night hunting and I'm very pleased with it. I did find a comb raiser
helped cope with the extra height though.

Pete

The scope is an old Kahles, the reticle is not even centered! But the optics look extremely bright, so for "Keiler in the dark" I thought I might try.
BTW, I just mailed CZ about their rings/mounts. Will keep You posted about the results ...
