jsl3170Opinions regarding choice of rifle action
Hello to all forum members,
I am a new user. I have been kicking the issue around for a while and have posted on some other forums but am particularly interested in what I may read on this one; currently building a father/son pair of matched rifles in 375 H & H. As I am a LH shooter and he is a RH shooter our search has become a tad more challenging for actions.
Sjo, the question I am posting relates to what is already a lively discussion topic as far as I can tell, that is, I seek opinions on the following actions as well as arguments in favor of or against the following:
GMA (5 month turnaround I am told)
Waffenfabrik Hein (worth a year's wait?)
CZ (if they ever produce the 550 in LH)
Winchester (Dad has a pre 64 and I suppose I could find a Classic with a .532 bolt face and we could have lnew bottom metal created as well as a magnum length magazine box)
I am intrigued by the GMA and the Hein as I am sure most might be...

vapodogA left hand M-70 magnum classic is not going to be easy to find but they're out there and not at all difficult to convert to .375 H&H length. I'm not sure what the other higher priced guys offer in the LH version.

Toomany ToolsI think your best bet is the Winchester Classic. They are not hard to find in LH but they are going for a little more than they did two years ago. The .375 will easily fit on any of the magnum calibers--300 WM, 7mm Rem Mag, etc.--and .375 bottom metal is on the shelf at Brownells or direct from Sunny Hill--there's no difference between the LH and RH bottom metal. It's also not that hard to fit the .375 to a standard length action if that's all you find.
Here's a candidate:

Toomany ToolsDo you have a right-hand one to match it? If you do that would be an even better choice.
