Clearance between barrel and objective bell?

Recoil RobClearance between barrel and objective bell?
Just switched the scopes on a rifle and the objective bell on the new scope is awfully close to the barrel. It's not touching, I can slip a piece of printer paper in there easily.
The rifle is an 7-1/2lb. .308, do I need to be concerned?
Thanks, Rob

Not at all. As long as it's not touching then it's enough clearance.

Recoil RobThanks men.

Bent FossdalGood to go for the range, at least.
In a hunting rifle, I like more clearing.
If the scope is very close to barrel, it will hold water, and twigs and shit that can alter point of inpact.

WestpacI would recommend a bit more than 1 thickness of paper. Barrels flex and metal expands when it gets hot and the last thing you want is your barrel and scope making contact.

Recoil RobI measured the thickness of paper that will just get through, I have .004" clearance and it's at the end of the breech, at the beginning of the conestaper, where I imagine there's no flex.
