Nickel Plating of actions
I am looking for someone in Canada who does Nickel Plating. (The only reason I am stuck on Canada, is the border issues are becoming a pain in the neck) I have a number of actions and barreled actions that I would like to have done. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Additionally if there are other finishes that anyone would reccommend aside from blueing and teflon. I am looking for something more rust resistant than blueing and more chip/wear resistant than teflon.

Any info would be appreciated.

Nickel looks like crap as it wears. I think it is also visible on satellite photos. Parkerizing is your best bet. It has worked for the military for generations.

Brno, find an automotive bumper re-chromer near you and find out if they do electro-less nickel plating, and how thick their application(s) are. That would be the easiest. You may have to specify the number of dips in the tank to conform with your actions clearances. - Dan

Talk to the guys at Prairie Gun Works, I am sure they have a Canadian source.

There have been warnings concerning Hydrogen embrittlement (sp?), when steel is chrome plated. Don't know any more about it. Somthing to worry about on nights when you can't sleep.
Good luck!
