airgun1I believe it was an option in 1925 on model 54's.
They started using them on 220 Swifts regularaly in 1937.
It was always an option for all calibers in pre 64 M70's

MasteriflemanMany, if not all Pre-64 70's in .220 Swift, .264 WinMag and .300 H & H were made standard with iron plated, stainless barrels and then blued. If your original barrel is blued but looks a little "frosty", it's a plated and blued stainless barrel.
