Last fall while deer hunting I rolled a 4-wheeler and broke the stock (and my leg) of my then brand new Kimber 84 in .308. The stock broke completely in half right at the rear action screw.

I finally got around to sending the rifle into Kimber along with a letter explaining what had happened. I was fully expecting to have to pay a substantial amount to get the rifle re-stocked and repair any other damage that it had suffered. (I also destroyed my Leupold VX-3 2.5x8 at the same time and Leupold replaced it for nothing) The rifle ended up needing the barrel replaced and refinished. Kimber performed all the required work and even upgraded the wood for me all for a very minute cost that was FAR FAR less than I had expected to pay. And they had it back to me in less than 3 weeks from the day I shipped it.

I also have to say that the individuals I talked to on the phone were polite and truly cared about me as a customer. In todays hurry up world it is a rare occasion to deal with a company that truly puts the customer first. Before this incident I was just a fan of Kimber rifles and pistols, now I am a loyal customer who is looking forward to another Kimber in my future.

Below I have attached some pics of the new stock. I apologise for the poor quality. They do not due justice to the stock.

You might need to send that to someone who can keep it in one piece!

That's great to hear! It's also kinda funny. I remember you asking about a stock replacment and not wanting to say what happened to the rifle

I'm glad it all worked out for you. The stock is beautiful.

Just for you here is a pic of me in the ER getting said leg repaired. ForrestB took the pic with CustomStox watching on (and both laughing I might add) with the intent of using it for future blackmail purposes.

No need to worry about me keeping it one piece this time. I have sworn off 4 wheelers for a good while.

I would love to see a pic of your Jay Fisher knife. I have been wanting another one of his knives but I dont have the guts to ask my wife for another toy just yet.

You know Jay is protective of his copyrights so here is the link to his picture on his site. If I get some pictures of my own I'll post them on the Knife forum. It's just a little skinner but should be just right. He runs a professional operation which is not true of all craftsmen.

I forgot to say that the repaired rifle looks great. I can only hope that the doctors did half as good a job on your leg!

You still coming down to Ft. Hood in the future, or is that all off?

That is the best advertising a company can have - a Happy Customer!!! Sometimes I think companies forget that once they get your money. I know Leupold stands behind their product and I'm glad Kimber is doing the same.

Wow, imagine how busted up your Kimber would have been if you hadn't protected it with your leg! Hope you are well on the way to a complete recovery. Good hunting!

That looks to be a real nice piece of wood. I am glad things worked out so well.

When I broke the leg and went on convalescant leave the Army reassigned me to Ft Carson, CO. The place is great with deer and elk right on base. But it looks like there wont be any elk hunting for me this fall since I am deploying to the Sand Box in April.

The leg is healing great and the limp is all but gone. It will still be a while before I am running any marathons, but at least I am rid of the crutches.

It sounds like a good place to be stationed if you can't be in Texas. Good luck when you go overseas -- keep your head down.

Trust me Ol M1 won't be running anytime soon even when his leg is fully healed. One time in Tombstone we were crossing the road and cars were coming I told Bill hurry up and run he wouldn't he stopped and pulled his profile out his wallet and said he couldn't run because his profile said so. By then I already sprinted across the road and I was coaxing him across the road. But then again Bill has a damn good reason not to run. The reason why I can't say because it is not place to put out Bill's buiseness but all we can say thank you U.S Army for your screw up on Bill

All I have to say to that is thanks to both of your for your service!

You should have asked them to make a wooden leg for you ! A nice piece of walnut would look classy !.....My friend got a new rifle from Kimber after they couldn't figure out why his occasionally misfired !
