M70-type safety for Remington Seven
I am looking for a m70-type safety for my Remington Seven. Have been googling, but did not find any answers..Will a M70 for Remington 700 fit the model Seven, or is someone making a M70-type safety specific for Seven?

I had looked into a three position safety for my seven project a while back.
Gentry Customs in Montana was the only one I remember advertising a kit for the seven.
I would get in touch with Pacific Tool also.
They may do one if asked. It is extremely similar to the 700, but I think the bolt shroud is smaller.

NECG sells a good one..not absolutely sure about the Seven, but I put one on a 600..Can't believe Remington would not use a universal threading, etc

You would have to remove the safety lever from the trigger assy to clear the the new bolt shroud. Or are you installing a new trigger?

Thanks for the input guys. I will try to look into the differences in 700/7. If a safety for the 700 can be fitted, I have a lokal source for them. A new trigger will complete the build.

I just got a e-mail from a norwegian gunsmith that confirm that his firm is making a bolt shroud with m70-type safety for Remington Mod Seven. It is not mentioned on their website, but they do make them. Problem solved :-)

Back years ago when I was making those units, the bolt threads were the same for the M600, M7, M721, M722, M725 and M700

The bolt thread indexing was the same for the right hand bolts and the left hand bolts as well.

I currently have one from a M700 on a Mohawk 600.

I've bought several from PT&G. 40X rimfire, 600,700, and mod7.

Ah yes, ITAR. Sold as a way to keep technology from leaking out, now functioning to keep technology from leaking in. Fooey...

Herman Waldron fitted a 3 position M70 type safety on a M700 for me years ago, but I do not know a current source.
