butchlambertThroating a 9.3x62
I am ready to throat my 9.3x62. I plan on using 250grn. Barnes TSX bullets. What overall length should my cartridge be to work in my Banner Mauser and Blackburn bottom metal. I will throat it a little long as the Barnes seem to shoot best for me with the bullets jumping.

I would need to know two things. 1) What's the does the dummy round measure with the base of that bullet flush with the base of the neck? 2) How much magazine length do you have?
FWIW, I wouldn't over throat it at first. That bullet may not like to "jump" in this particular barrel.

butchlambertThanks Malm,
I am not at my shop now. My bottom metal from Blackburn will not be here before the end of the week. I thought maybe that they were all the same length unless modified. One of our better custom gunmakers was kind enough to loan me his reamers and I want to get them back to him as soon as possible. I guess that it would be nice to be able to use heavier bullets, but it is going to be a pretty light rifle and I am recoil sensitive. A 300 Weatherby on the bench is all I want.

butchlambertMalm,
It measures 3.475" with the bullet seated to the bottom of the neck. I believe that this is a little longer than my 1909 bottom metal.

Were it me, I would go with a COL .030-.050 less than the box and throat it to touch.
