I have a Ruger KM77VT Mark II Bolt-Action .223 Rifle With a Luepold scope that will only shoot 2 inch 5 shot groups from 100 yards. The over all case lentgh could be 1.783 instead of 1.760 could this be the problem. It is not my first guess.

RB/ I doubt that the chamber length would cause that much of a problem, it just means you won't have to trim your cases often, try seating the bullets out longer/closer to the beginning of the rifling and I can't remember what twist the mkII has, if 1/12 it will like 52/55 grain bullets, if it is the 1/8-9 then the 55/ 69 grain bullets will peform better, I would look for a bedding or scope mount problem before the extra long chanber neck to be the problem, does it do this with handloads and/orfactory ammo? good luck and good shooting, may your problems be easy/and cheap to cure!!!!

Ruger has a habit of putting a heavy bullet twist on thier target/varmint rifles. Don't mean they won't the lighter ones but usally best accuracy is near max loads. Also check the crown to see if it is square and not chipped or dinged, and like the man said try adjusting the seating, if it is setup for heavier bullets they will need to be seated out some...

Glass bed is the best accuracy cure around today, start there and see what happens...
