Firing pin protrusion
Ok, so I traded into a unfired Mark X 458 Lott barreled action and have been fiddling with it for a couple of years, maybe more. Anyway, after having some lathe work done on the barrel and having said barrel reinstalled with headspace check, I cleaned the bolt and checked the firing pin protrusion to discover it to be 0.110". Way too much, I am thinking. Is the proper way to check protrusion to drop the firing pin into a naked bolt and measure? Seems correct, but I defer to you all. Help.

Thanks,

Stephen

I feel odd asking, but is your firing pin naked?

The cocking piece contacting the bottom of the v groove in the bolt is what limits protrusion.

Yep, Naked. Thanks for the reply. I figured it out, too.
