OldGuyBlackstar - Lothar Walther BBL's - i.e. Accumax II
What are your experiences, thoughts, opinions on these barrels? I am considering one for a project. All responses, good or bad, are greatly appreciated. Thanks

CustomstoxOldguy,
I just did a search for you. Click on the link. There are a number of horror stories regarding them.
Blackstar search linkCrap, it worked a few minutes ago. If it doesnt when you see this, do a search starting about jan 1 2001 and ending in June 2004.

SpoorI have a Ruger II in 338 WM that has been to Blackstar for polishing and Cryo.
It is really easy to keep clean. Can't vouche for the accuracy because I did not shoot it before it went to them. Right now it's 1 moa.
Service was top knotch.

butchloci'm sure lots of guys will disagree, but i really don't see much in the whole cyro thing. I've got a couple in ar's. one shoots well, one goes off ok. I really think that there are 2 things involved. 1`st is to get a 1st quality barrel from a 1st quality mfgr. and then go find the best machinist/gunsmith you can find. one that knows how to measure things and set up his machinery right. Now you have a top quality barrel put on right. A couple of posts here are from jim kobe, He's about as good as they come, even if he is an ornery bastard. Jim - did I do that right??

Ol` JoeI`v heard bad about the Blackstar barrels but the regular Lother Walther barrels with out the BlackStar treatment are great.
I`d take a LW barrel in a heart beat over alot of others on the market. There are a few smiths that bad mouth working with them because of the hardness of their steel but I have three of them that are on the best shooting easiest cleaning rifles in my safe.
