You gotta love it...
when a plan comes together. thumb

Got a new Bell and Carlson stock for my old pre 64 Win 70 featherweight last year, but hadn't really had time to mess with it untill recently. The instructions say to just bolt it on, don't worry about bedding it, it should shoot fine. Sounded like heresy to me, but then I thought it maybe it would make a good experiment. Bolted it on, shot about 4" groups at 200 yards.

Now, I know this rifle will do better, its not like I bought it yesterday. Took it apart, forend was touching bbl, bolt was touching in stock. Bedded it, floated it, relieved stock around bolt handle, lapped scope rings. Retested, and viola! 1.25", 3 shot 200 yard groups. Damn near 1/2 MOA @200 yards out of a featherweight sporter!

I guess it will have to do... Wink

1.25 inches over 200 yards is 5/8 moa-- said to be "damned good" to those of us who ain't too up on our math. Congratulations and let's see some even smaller ones next time.

I'm taking my rig out tomorrow to kill some paper and hope to do as well.
