What kind of finish would be period correct for a pre war H&H rifle?
Would it be rust blue?

What about the trigger, did H&H replace it or did they rework the military trigger on the pre war rifles?

On the pictures and catalogs that I have found, they left the charger hump and the flag safety. So was
wondering if they just reworked the mil trigger?

Wish I had a picture, yes-rust blue is correct, but very light (high blu rather than black). Mine was uber polished, looked to be in the 600 grit range. The bluing was uniform and very bright.

As for the triger, mine was a re-ground mil trigger, but the sear was aftermarket and a little oversized. Pull was around 4.5 pounds.

Charger hump was left, mine had a quarter rib and express sights (375H&H) with the 3 leaf sight dovetailed right into the rib. Front sight was a flip over gold bead/ivory bead.

Oh how I miss that gun. Crawling off to cry now...

Who in the US can do the British style rust bluing/blacking?

Well, two questions.

Can a 1909 Argentine Military trigger be reworked into a good trigger?

If it can, for me that would be preferable to using a Blackburn or Recknagel trigger.
Not to try and save $ but to be "old school".

I doubt if it would be any less costly to rework a Mil trigger properly than to replace it.
