savage model 12
I'm hoping to go buy one tomorrow. I was looking to get a rifle with a clip but the price is good.
How hard would it be to change this to a clip, this has the plastic stock and I plan on replacing with a woood stock at a latter date.

Not hard, all the parts are available from Brownells, or Gun Parts, or Western Gun Parts here in Edmonton. I did this conversion for my brother's 7 Mag Savage a few years back, basically all your doing is swapping parts and the stock. - Dan

Do I understand this correctly? You can easily convert a blind mag Savage 110 style action to use a Savage clip? I would really like to do this with my 243, mainly so I can use it as a switch barrel with rounds of different body size (i.e. WSM's), without screwing up feeding for the 243. It looks like the only thing that controls feeding is the magazine lip.

Please elaborate on what's involved.

Thanks,
Todd

It's really simple, if you examine the savage connection system for clips.. you'll be disappointed that people get paid for it... the actions and stock (other than hole) are identical, and you can buy the clip, retainer and retainer button easy. It's pretty clean..

Tear your blind mag action down, look at how the mag (snicker) joins, and then go to a store and look at the clip... you'll see what I mean.. it's TWO holes different.. the hole for the clip in the bottom of the stock, and the hole in the side for the release button.

I have the part #'s for the magazine box for a short action model 12 and seems to be the same # as used on 110/111/112 in brownells catalog.
The only magazine guide for the clip I see has long after it.
Would anyone know which guide etc parts are going to fit this action or closest to it.
