Re: Question about locking lugs
Ruger and Win. M70 bolts are one-piece. I don't think anyone is goofy enough to braze locking lugs on! It's bad enough to do it with bolt handles!

What RoyB said about the nose of the bolt is what I meant. I didn't word my question properly. Only an idiot would make a rifle with locking lugs brazed on to the side of the bolt body and I sure as heck wouldn't shoot it.

The Rem. bolt is somewhat similar to what a Savage is, in that the lugs/bolt nose are one piece. Rem. then both pins and silver solders the lug/nose to the bolt body, unlike the Savage which remains seperate parts. It is very hard to see, but it's there. Strength is not compromized since the important lugs and boltface are one piece.
