45nutMy 1906 Winchester needs a gunsmith
I was given an old barreled action...
Obviously it needs parts and a proper touch to get it back to where it should be,,in shooting condition.
Any recommendations for a gunsmith ? Thanks

hawkinsIt's not the gunsmith thatis the problem. The cost of the parts will be very high (about 3-4 times what the gun is worth). For a begining that stock never went on a 1906. The 1906 "Expert" had a small pistol grip and was made of fruitwood.
Good Luck!

500grainsYou would be better off to buy a good used 1906 and forget restoring that one.

ramrod340I agree. Not knowing exactly what is missing on the inside. Just the bolt assembly (if you can find one) will be $85-100. Carrier $45-65 Mag tube and rings $85-100. Plus wood and other parts. There are several 1906s on gunbroker for $295 up.

CustomstoxYou have an action and a barrel. You are a long ways from a rifle.

45nutNobody cares to resurrect these and put them back in shooting order? Seems a shame to just ignore the historical aspect and let it die.

Guess I'm a little lost as to the historical aspect of a 1906 22. While I have one that I did including a liner I did so only because it was my dad's.
What we are telling you is that you can get a good guality rifle for less that just the parts need to repair that one. Not counting a smith's time.
Doug Turnbull is one of the best for restoring a Winchester but don't be surprised if the bill is in the 4 figures.
