Have any of you had any experience using the Merit optical aperture attachment on your shooting glasses to obtain a clearer sight picture using open sights. Do they work, or, is there another brand that maybe works better? Thanks, Roger.

Yes they work. You have to play with it a bit to put it in the correct position and adjust the aperture.Good for bulleye shooting but not for hunting .

The Merit may be fine, but I was worried about it staying in place. Take a look at Champion Shooters Supply at the clamp on pieces.

Back in the days when I could hold a pistol steady enough to compete in bullseye shooting, I used one. It was outstanding! Somewhere over the years I've managed to lose mine, but have been thinking about getting a new one. I don't believe any other maker offers anything similar! However, some G.I. competitors used to use a black target paster. They'd punch a pinhole in it, then paste it on their shooting glass lens at the exact spot needed. This produced a similar effect, but of course not nearly as elegant. Also a lot cheaper!!

PS: Never had one move during a shooting session, once in place and adjusted!!

I used one when I shot IHMSA and it worked great. It stayed put and the adjustable feature really helped when the light changed. I've been considering putting one on one of my muzzleloaders to replace the standard peep I use now but haven't gotten around to it yet. It's a good product.

Well, I went ahead and ordered one from Brownells. Kinda expensive, but, it's a one time deal and if it helps me shoot better groups, it's worth it. Thanks for the input. Roger.
