Very cool - I have never seen anything like that before. Looks good and I think in a nice blue - it will be even more impressive.

Looking forward to working with Jimmy.

His original floorplate engraving ideas held a lot of promise, but I guess we will do a sultry feline instead.

Thanks Roger and Mark also. The orignal idea for the floorplate was a good one but hell, I might never have made it to the woods hunting, just spent the day fondling the floorplate
I am not really worried about a heating problem as this gun won't be shot a whole lot even when hunting. I had a Browning that had the very lightweight pencil barrel and never had a problem with it. I'm sure that by the time these two master craftsmen get done with this project it will be perfect in every way

Jimmy, its your money, the way I see it a fellow should be able to it however he wants it. I tell people when they start paying for my gun work they can start telling me what I should do.

Tell us more about your project

Well, first off I did bump my head first thing this morning but it might have knocked some sense into me
I have had this project on my mind for a couple of years now and I have had a Classic Super Grade setting on the shelf for awhile, so I made the call this afternoon.
The first call was to our own Mark Stratton and what a great fellow to talk with. I might just point out that a couple of our other members here think I am a bit goofy for wanting this gun done this way { no names } but Mark explained this is why it is a custom, it's the way I want it
When Mark is finished with it, it will then go to Scrollcutter for the final touches of some gold inlay and some engraving.

Jimmy, tell us more.

I won't even comment on any sense getting knocked into your head. Well okay, it might be awful lonely in there. LOL

Years ago I got rid of the two pre-64 264 win mags that I loved but for some unknown reason they left my ownership and I have never been quite the same

I have had this Classic Super Grade sitting here in 338 win mag and just made up my feeble mind that it would be the donor for the 264 mag project.

Mark will be doing a half round, half octagon barrel treatment,{sit down Chic, don't want you to fall over laughing} with the octagon being from the forarm foward. I asked Mark if we could run the flat from the front of the barrel back to the action and he will see what he can come up with. I will be using the orignal SG stock but will be re-finishing it and adding a new pad.

Scrollcutter will be doing two gold bands on the front of the barrel and two in front of the action, along with the lettering on the barrel. Still in the thought process for the trigger guard and floor plate, maybe something with the rings. This will be topped of with a NIB Leica 3.5-10X42 that I just got last week and needed a home for.

I am looking for idea's for the floorplate and trigger guard, so lets hear what you think

Bulimo engraving. Wood nymph with long, naturally curly/wavy hair and nice tits - large "C" cup, still has high beams, smallish nipples (ie never been pregnant). Miniature gold navel ring, nice full hips. Artfully camoflauge the promised land, got to leave something to our imaginations.

Jimmy,
The barrel sounds very interesting. Leave it to you to walk a different path, lol. I would bet that it would look sharp. I know Mark will give it his best efforts as always. Is the 338 bottom metal the one piece variety? I would sure go for that if I had the option.

The best thing I have found with Roger is to just give him a budget and turn him loose. He not only is a top of the line engraver, but has great taste and knows just what a gun needs. If I suggested something it would look like crap.

Is that to be likend to staying at a Holliday inn express lastnight?

Walking a different path indeed. How about something of the greater antelope variety?

Chic, I really liked this part Leave it to you to walk a different path, lol. seems that I heard that at home growing up and for the past forty+ years from the wife
Mark sent some pictures of what the barrel would look like and being the odd ball that I am, I liked the look I think Mark will be posting some pictures a bit later, I hope so.

As for this part Chic, The best thing I have found with Roger is to just give him a budget and turn him loose. I did and after the first two gold bands he said I was over budget

This project has really got me excited as I have gone way to long without a 264. I will talk to Roger about a couple more idea's but I don't think they make a floorlate big enough for the big chested woman I would want

Jimmy, if you are considering retaining the factory bottom metal then great! But if you decide to go another route, you may have to get the stock re-inletted to fit. Might want to consider the Williams 1 piece units ITW for the project.

I have some computer generated models of Jimmy's requested barrel. Hunt101 seems to be having problems tonight uploading photos. It an interesting design, a twist on the traditional half round barrel. I've only done one like this before, only Jimmy wants the top flat to run all the way back to the barrel's cyclinder section. Once I'm able to post the photos you can see what I mean.

Roger, will this fit on the floor plate? I would like to take a nice kitty someday and I have always liked this one you did.
