ReloaderSkeletonizing a M700 bolt handle.....
I'm having a custom built off of an older pre '82 M700. After I get the rig back, I'm sending the bolt to Kampfeld to have the TI type spiral flutes, polish the body, and coat the flutes. I'm contemplating having the handle skeletonized as well, but I've heard this can weaken the brazing.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks,
Reloader

montea6bNo experience, but common sense tells me that if you don't skeletonize any brazed areas it shouldn't have an effect...

butchlambertKarl knows what he is doing. Let him have at it. No way there will be enough heat from machining to hurt the braze.

Dans40XCSkeletonizing the handle & knob will optimize the silver brazed joint, compared to adding adornments to assist attachment.
Lighter weight means less harmonics/vibration of the silvered joint.
