stock making question
Could anyone on here tell me the going rate on having a stock made with a customer supplied blank?

Prices are all over the place. Most better known stockers charge from $2500 to $3500 plus your wood. Certain names bring twice that. Complicated designs, mannlichers, exotic checkering can drive the price substantially higher. Or you can go the other route and for somewhat less, go to one of the semi-custom outfits but you get something that looks, well, semi-custom. Slightly better than an average factory stock. If you get real lucky, you might find an up-and-comer that works cheap and can do work that meets your criteria. Hope that helps a little.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.

Yup, that's about right. Basic labor only charge, extras like skelton grip, butt, ebony tip, wrap-around checkering, finer LPI checkering, it all adds up.
