Does anyone know where I might find one. I placed a general order with gunparts, but they are searching their inventory. I am looking for a plan "B" in case they don't have one.
Thanks,
Scott
Im not quite familar with Husqvarnas model names in USA. They all have different names here in Sweden.
There are a few to chosse from. If you have a M-96 action (cook on closing) there is no problems getting a new extractor. Same for the M-98 type action (cook on opening).
The problems start if you have a 1600 model (Swedish model name). This action look like a M-98 with the long extractor but it dont have the flag style safety. Its equiped with a side safety locking the trigger and bolt. Its unfortenally almost impossible to get a replacement extractor to this model. Even here in Sweden.
If your rifle have a modern extractor like on a SAKO there is new ones avalible here in Sweden.
Hope you dont have a 1600..... If it is a 1600 you are in trouble
Stefan.
I believe I have a 1600, it is exactly as you describe. It is the same action Smith & Wesson used for their rifles in 1968, except S&W had their logo on it instead of Husqvarna Sweden.
Smith & Wesson sold their rifle parts to Lone Star Guns in Texas who gave me the same bad news.
Thanks,
Scott

I can check around a bit here in Swe. but i doubt I can get a extractor for you.
I think Ive once heard something about remaking M-96 extractors to fit the 1600. Im not sure about this but I will have a look at my friends 1600 and se if this is possible at all.

Stefan, haven't Christer A. been fiddling with 1600's? I seem to recall him mentioning that he preferred building on them, might be the price that's attractive, I dunno... He might have some connections.

The 1600 is easyer to work with than the M-98. The 1600 reciver is more like a 1900 internally and there is no problen fixing lug contact etc. A M-98 is a tuffer customer in these areas.
Ill check with Christer but I would not set the hope to high.
Stefan.
If it was a M-98 husky all you need is any old Mauser extractor...Off a milsurp.

If Elmer didn't say it, it probably ain't true.
Stefan and Mats,
A Springfield 03-A3 extractor could be lengthened at the rear to clear the bolt guide. The boltface to claw distance is very close. I am sure it would need other massaging to fit properly, but as a last resort to making one from scratch, it may work.
333-OKH,
Thanks, I will check it out

Yup, I know. Case hardening is a bitch, huh? They are more appealing to the eye too, a bit sleeker lines than the 98. I kinda like that.
That link that 333 OKH posted does indeed indicate possession of Mod. 3000/4000 extractors, both standard and magnum. Worth checking out, $52.50 + S&H and minimum fitting might be more attractive than the rigors of fitting something originally meant to be on another firearm. I'll try to get a hold of Lasse Johansson too, we've discussed the 'm/96-extractor-on-1600' issue before, he might have a clue or two...

For anyone needing this extractor contact:
James Wisner at 1-360-748-3743
or by e-mail at: jenjim@quik.com
He manufactures the extractor so it is constantly in stock. The price is aprox. $50.00 USD
