Where to find: Kimber 84M stock pattern???
Gentlemen:

I need a woodsmith to turn me a stock from a Kimber 84M pattern stock. Or, alternatively, to make me a new stock for my Kimber 84M. Please don't ask what happened to the old stock. It is too embarrassing to tell.

Thanks,

Jordan

Wood or plastic? MPI has a plastic copy of it. Have you contacted Kimber?

Thanks Terry. I contacted Kimber and they will not sell me one because they say there is a "liability issue" .I have rebarreled this rifle, and they will not fit one of their stocks to it and they will not sell me a blank---even a discarded factory "second". I did not know about MPI. I will give them a call. I prefer wood.

Jordan, if you even have pieces left of the old stock you can build a pattern. Or am I getting into the really embarrasing part?

If I were to commission a new wood stock for a 84M I would have the magazine box shortened some to reduce the stock height there and also have the stock forward tapered to a lower forend. I would also add a ebony forend tip ala Ruger Ultralight.

Customstox:

We are getting awful close to the embarrassing part! This rifle started life as a Kimber 84M varminter. I rebarreled it to a sporter weight barrel. If I was not such an idiot, I could have used the varminter stock as a pattern by just filling in the barrel channel some and reshaping as necesssary.

Savage99:

You and I think alike. I had a gunsmith shorten the magazine box. From the factory it is just too tall. You can take almost a quarter inch out of it without affecting the trigger shoe. I also agree that reducing the depth of the forearm make sense also.
