<9.3x62>Favorite front bead color?
I've always used a small white, but may try something different. What do you all prefer?

Virginia7Same for me - a small white bead is preferred
with a shallow V blade rear sight.

Atkinson3/32 white Ivory bead or a gold faced post for a ghost peep....I don't want a small bead..

HP ShooterBright orange. It's the color I painted the front post of my AR15 highpower service rifle, and it takes a lot of effort off attaining the correct sight picture, particularly at 600 yards.
I should imagine it will work even better on sights hardly ever used beyond 200 yards.
For me a fiber optic is easiest to see. White bead next. Paul.

dsitemanHello,
Colors seem to be all the rage these days, but for me would prefer an absolute flat black post with no possibility of light bouncing around or "off the post..." for that will definitely change your point of impact. I spray my front sight with special sight black or some use the carbon lamp to darken to flat black. Remington offers the spray on stuff as well as others.
Try at the range someday the difference the flat black post makes vs color or the white bead. If you are accustomed to the others and can shoot well with them, fine, but I will go with the flat black every time.

I know what you're thinking. Notice I said "bright", not "shiny" orange. It's a sort of flourescent red-orange, but it's totally matte. There is no shine to it.

WesternmassmanSorry, I vote for a small brass bead, filed flat on top, and 45degrees on the face. Polish it up with an eraser once and a while, and it will really stand out.

Fish301149.3 x 62, for me I guess it depends what I'm shooting at.
For punching paper I like the flattest black post I can get, as some others do.
For shotgunning I like the white bead. If I'm in the woods calling that gobbler my old 870 wears a bright green flourescent.
And although it is rare that I'm using something other than a scoped rifle for whitetails, the 2 lever actions I shoot with 'iron' sights are small white blades. My squirrel getting .22's are old browning BAR's and have itty bitty brass and a white dot out front.
Sorry for the rambling on, but I guess I'm not hardcore about any one type....
