Re-chamber
A while ago I had bookmarked a site that would allow a comparison of chamber compatability; in other words if you wanted to rechamber a 308 to .30-06 it would show the possibility. Anyone know of the site,

Thanks

Jim

I think you might be thinking of this site Jim. It's not always accurate though.

Maybe it's simply sheer repetition, but I normally just print off the drawings for both cartridges and stare at them for 10 seconds and I have the answer. It's a rare occurrence where I have to sit down with a calculator and run a couple of trig functions to see EXACTLY where a new shoulder will end up in relation to the diameter of the old chamber. The problem that I found with the computer generated answers is that they use standards to arrive at a decision. Chambers are very seldom to spec and more often than not they can be .003 to .008 inch over size to what the books call for. That makes a big difference on a .010 per inch body taper. There are a number of conversions that say: "Yes, no problem" that will often leave you with a ring in the chamber when it comes to practicality.

Govern yourself accordingly.
