Recoil Pad
I have 2 questions regarding original pre 64 Winchester model 70 recoil pads.
1. What is the best way to remove the plugs to get access to the screws for pad removal?
2. Will Citri-Strip finish remover harm the recoil pad if it is left on the stock when stripping?

Also does anyone have source for the brand new manufacture Winchester marked red recoil pads that are actually Pachmyer Decelerators. I have tried the standard sources with no luck; they all have the current reproduction 1922 dated pre 64 red recoil pads.

We find the plugs and use a small jewelers screwdriver to open up a gap. Then squirt in a little lighter fluid. Work the gap open all around. Then pry out with the screwdriver. Citristrip can harm rubber and cause it to swell. Plastic too.

Thanks for the tips. I guess it is going to have to come off.
