Are Daley (Zastava) Mini actions any good? Should I trade for a Remington?
I impulsively bought a band new left-handed mini-mauser action (223 bolt face, Daley) from a gunsmith in New York for $325 plus shipping this last spring. He apparently bought several when the Daley's were clearanced. My son and wife are both left eye dominant, so finding a left handed action for this low a price was just to tempting to pass up. My son is now only six years old, (and I don't plan on letting him shoot anything but rimfires for a few more years) so I am just going to sit on this action for a good while. Is this action worth the price I paid, and might I be better off with a left handed model 700 action to build with? I own a few right handed Remingtons in various calibers and I know they shoot great. I just have no experience with the Zastava mini's. Does it cost much more to barrel a mini than it does a Rem? Might there be any problems with feeding cartridges based on the 221 fireball? Thanks for any advice or comments that you may have.

I also bought one. Had it rebarreled to 7mm BR by Wind River in Fla. It'll need some feeding work to be 100%. It's a RH action with Anderson bottom metal and it's a tack driver.

Purely a matter of opinion....I'd say yes....find a left hand .223 anywhere.....

I think Browning announced one on their micro medallion some time ago and never produced one.

Savage is all there is...(or at least was) and frankly I don't think that is a real gun!!

I own two of the mini Mausers and like them....took a bit of work to slick them up but great little actions.....

One is in a 6 X 45 and has taken a few deer....

I'm using a C/D mini mauser action for a top flight custom. When finished I have no doubt it'll be the the nicest rifle in the safe.I'd say go for it.

I have never heard of Anderson's bottom metal. Can you tell me about it, and maybe post a pic? The bottom metal on my action is quite roughly machined. Thanks,
Matt
