M16Win 70 .416 RM Bedding
I just picked up a Winchester Model 70 Stainless today in .416 RM. It has a custom barrel and is pillar bedded in a Fajen laminate stock. The recoil lug has not been glass bedded. Is pillar bedding enough to hold this caliber or should the recoil lug also be glass bedded? Thanks

Paul HYou'll definately want the recoil lug bedded!
Pillar bedding will result in bent or sheered action screws. The 416 has enough recoil that you wouldn't be going overboard by installing a second recoil lug on the barrel, which is a necessity on 45 cals and larger.

vangunsmithI would usually glass bed it,but with the laminated stock there should be more than enough strenght in it so glass bedding is not needed. Laminated stocks are really tough, and thats what you want. vangunsmith
