M70 Stock options (LH)
I really want to make my M70 Classic 375 as functional as possible. Saying that, I cannot comfortably shoot it with the iron sights because the comb is too high for my fat face. My two options are:
Installing a 1" tall front site blade and a tall peep rear sight.

Or, changing the stock configuration.

Rasping off 1/2" of the comb would make it the ugliest stock in the world, (except for my 788 Remington).

Since the gun is left handed do I have to get a custom stock built? Could I get someone to duplicate my present stock but add in a change in comb height?

I thought D'Arcy Echols was going to build the legend for those of us who shoot left handed. I can not find the thread but I thought they were available now..

I sent D'Arcy an email a month or so ago about this stock. He informed me that they were not available yet, but that they would be before too long. He got my contact info and said he would let me know when they were in production. Luckily, I'm not in a hurry and will just wait it out.

An interesting point though is that the Mod 70 stock's comb is too low for me - but then again most plastic stocks are too. Frowner

You could contact Doc over at MPI stocks and order the ASquare Hannibal, which is what I am using on an current project. He says he currently builds those stocks as they are ordered, maybe you could let him know how the winchester fits and he could accomodate? Sell me the winchester stock you have now, they fit me fine!

Hmm. I would rasp and sand the stock, then refinish. It will be the simplest and least expensive solution, and you will be able to get it just right.
