wapiti22.270 vs. .270 Weatherby
I'm looking at a Winchester 70 thats been converted from 270 Win to 270 Wby. What changes other than the bolt face would be necessary? I have not seen the rifle yet.

The very top of the shoulder of a 270Win is 10 thousands LONGER the a 270Wby.
If you have to reheadspace, you will want to set the barrel back. If you just leave it, its not a big problem. Will only be a problem 1) if you reload and 2) only if you try to fit reloads fired from this rifle into different one.

wapiti22Let me re-phrase my question. What changes to the 270 action would have been done to convert to 270 WBY, other than open up the bolt face?

I show the shoulder neck junction as .002" longer on the Win. But no clue how the radius effects that measurement. The neck on the Wby is .305 dia vs .31 for the Win.
None of this would probably matter. Might have strange rings/marks on fired brass.
As stated make sure it feeds. to me in a 24" or shorter barrel the small extra velocity is not worth the extra powder higher priced brass and dies.

wapiti22forgot to mention, it's a pre-64. Has a nice looking stock from the picture I've seen. Asking $700
