Do Medium Length 550 CZ's use the same mounts as CZ 550 Magnums ?
Folks just wanting to know if CZ's in 30/06. 9.3x62 .270 etc use the same same type of mounts as used by the magnum 550's. Do they have the recess for the mount lug like the magnums so that a set of warne mounts for a .375 or whatever wil lalso fit there medium length actions ??

Thanks.

The CZ rings on my 550 Mag origionaly came on R-West's 550 9.3x62, and they have the recoil lug.
So I'm assuming that the mag Warne rings will go the other way.

Thanks tailgunner !! I think I will have some spare mounts so I will need a cz 550 in a medium at some stage to go along with them !!

I think you will find that those mounts will fit other cz 550 action sizes. They will also fit all the ZKK series (600, 601 and 602), Model 21 and 22, ZG 47 and possibly even the old Brno ZKW 465 Hornets.

PC,
That is correct. The CZ 550 Medium takes the same rings as the Magnum action. It is just a shorter action with the same bases closer together. I recommend the 9.3x62 Mauser chambering in the CZ 550 Medium FS (Full Stock) to give your shoulder a rest from the big boomers. Cute little carbine!

I have seen that rifle and it looks ace !! as does the lux model I would not be able to decide between the two I imagine. I wonder if that hot chick holding it comes with the rifle [Big Grin]

Unfortunately the 9.3 x62 CZ is not imported into Australia. I have one on special order but no guarantee that I will ever get it.

Mark how long are they saying it will take ??

I would like to get the 9.3x62 in either a Full stock or Lux or possibly the battue I have not decided. If it will take 6 or so months I will order one pretty soon, just have to get my .375 all set up..

I got an e-mail from olin Australia whom import cz's and they said no problems I just need to place a firm order and they will get it in. I would also like to get a 6.5x55 in as well. I mean they should just import the whole range it's silly really.

Here is a list of the CZ rifles I want after my .375 in no particular order.

9.3x62
6.5x55
.458 win mag (to ream into a lott)
30/06 to up grade my current ruger.

I was told about 3 months PC. My fingers are crossed, but I'll post here to let you know if it does arrive. Currently I have a 375, 416 and an 8x68. For future use I have 2 602 actions.A 585 Nyati sounds good.

Mark what model 9.3x62 have you ordered ??

I am sort of interested in the "battue model" or the lux but the American style has nice clean lines which should be considered as well.

I just do not know hor mounting a scope would go with the battue model.

Daggaron,

have you not already purchased one of those FS carbines ?? I can see why...sublimal advertsing at it's best [Big Grin]

On a serious note Daggaron, how do you compare the 9.3x62 battue against the FS model as far as practicality goes ??? Everyone is raving about the FS model yet no one has talked about the battue model which may make an excellent pig rifle IMHO. How will that battue ramp go with utilising a scope in QD's ??

PC,
Yep, I got a 9.3x62 in the 550 Medium FS just like the first and last photos above, it has a tiger striped stock. Cute. [Smile]

The ramp sight on the Battue, I do not understand. It would not be the best rifle for scope use, but I don't have any idea about how the open sights work on running game. [Confused]

Ron,

I was at Great Northern Ego's, er a Guns yesterday, and handled both a 9.3X62 fs and a 416 Rigby 550. The two downsides are they don't have Czech women at the counter, and my wife seems to spend my PFD check before I can use it for new guns.

After spending a few days in Budapest, I must say that the former East Block countries sure do know how to make women [Wink]

PC I'm hoping to get the American style stock but I was'nt given options. I would be a great sambar rifle. A Nikon 2-7 is sitting in my safe to mount on it. Sorry for the slow reply but we had the last meeting of the Deerstalkers for the year.

Mark,

that is the stock style I am interested in as well. My mate has made his mind up on getting a battue style 9.3x62, but I think the Akerican stock will be a little more versatile. My only issue is I am half way through paying for a .375 CZ 550 and the 9.3 is very close to it in performance.

My gundealer is currently enquiring about delivery initially he was told 6 months but he is looking to get something firmer. As my mate and I and your self look like were all getting 9.3x62's maybe we could do a group bulk order for some RWS brass ?? My mate and I are in Ballarat, only an hour from you.

Your correct in that it will make an excellent sambar rifle, I plan to load mine if I get one with the 250 gr ballistic tips or 250 gr woodleigh's for pigs etc. All in all with the Nosler BT at 2500 fps and a BC of .495 for a 200 yard zero it will be 10 inches low at 300 yards and still hit with over 2200 foot pounds. My 30/06 loaded with 165 Nos BT's only shoots about 2.5" flatter and hits with about 400 pounds less. I was suprised by it's flat shooting capabilities.

The CZ rifles are also supurb, I am very fond of there actions and they shoot well. In my opinion there great value and everything is steel.

In regards to choice you should be able to order any of the styles !! the lux, full stock, American or battue, makes no difference either way it's a special order !! I think your making the right choice however with the American, better shaped stock with less drop. I will be interested to see my friends battue it looks a little weird I reckon. 2-7 would be an ideal scope for it, what are Nikon scopes like ??

Mark give me a reaosn for how I can justify both the 9.3 & .375.... [Frown]

PC you kicked me into gear and I went to O'Reilly's to check I will get the American style stock. A while back I tried to sell 2 602 stocks but whenever I said they were the Euro style everyone lost interest. My mate Tim shoots a 9.3x62 and gets Lapua brass.
Now as a man with a small amount of hair all grey let me tell you that having a 375 does not stop you having a 9.3x62. Currently I have 3 375's and if I like them may end up with more than one 9.3 !

Mark,

the American stock is definitely the way to go. I would not buy the euro stocked one unless I really had no choice. There was a thread a while back about RWS brass and everyone whom uses it staes it is great stuff. I have made my mind up, I definitely want a 9.3x62 and have placed the order. My mate still wants that Battue [Confused]

My next CZ after the 9.3x62 will be a .458 win mag and I will have Bob De'Vries ream it out into a lott and lop the barrel to 22".

Mark if you want a composite stock for your 9.3x62 McMIllan now have a stock especially for the CZ standard sized action that our 9.3's come in.

If I can not get any RWS brass I will get some lapua stuff.

One day I would like to have this 9.3 decked out with express sights and barrel band etc. But that will be a long while down the track.

Don't worry I am getting my first grey hairs and I am sure it's due to debating over which guns to purchase next.

I understand what your saying about the Euro stocks I have a 550 stock here thats the hogs back and no-one wants it. I have a 602 stock here however that is not Euro of a donor 602 action.

KMuleinAK,
Here is one more tasteful shot of a beautiful gun [Wink] :

The rest of you boys will someday understand the beauty of the hogback. I have CZ's in ArmTec and McMillan synthetic and a custom walnut stock on one. The rest are in the hogback Euro stocks, and I love them. Two of them even have outstanding wood for a factory rifle.

The way you guys are pissing and moaning about the CZ hogback, you ought to just call it the "urostock," as in "urine." [Wink]
