I was cleaning my no. 3 and noticed some grime too deep for me to easily reach, so figured I would take it apart (just the falling block portion) I took the crossbolt out, but looks like it just released the handle, anybody able to help me here?

Been awhile since I did one of those but recollect it is pretty simple. Remove recoil pad then stock for access to trigger assembly, lever screw for that. I think the ejector spring has to be detensioned(allen wrench) for complete removal but am not sure. If you have the schematic from the owners manual you should be able to figure it all out. Another source for this may be Numrich Arms. They are available online but I don't have the URL.

All right, got the screw off, do I just pull the stock off? what is the next steps here guys?

If you go to the ruger website you can download the manual for a No. 1. This has the instructions for disassembly of the breechblock area, complete with pictures. You do not remove the buttstock to get into the breechblock area. Hope this helps.

they actually had the pdf file for the no. 3. it is printing as I type. will use it in the morning to finish the whole thing up. Glad that I decided to do this, amazing how dirty this thing was inside. I had bought it used and just thought that the shop would have gone through and cleaned it real good, I should have made sure all was well. will give good cleaning and then put some lubricant in the right spots.
