trashcanmanRUST ON MY CZ 527!
I have a Golden Rod in my safe an none of my other guns have any hint of rust on them, but my cz 527 in .223 has a problem. The entire barrel seems to be rusting, but only the barrel. The gun is brand new and no matter how much i rub the blueing on the barrel it comes out brown on the rag
(rubbing it with wd-40 on the rag) the chamber and bore is coming out heavily brown (patches and bore brush dont stop it) Now the entire barrel is turning solid brown like it was rusted before it was blued. again, no problems with any of my other guns in this same safe. the reciever of the gun is perfect. what is going on here??? it is my favorite gun!
Im so sad...it was beautiful. please help!

I also doesnt shoot well anymore my .5 groups turned into 1 inch groups.Do I need a new barrel? any gunsmiths that can rebarrel a cz 527 you know of?

courtney platerSorry to hear that. I don't know why your are rusting so because mine don't. As for cleaning the rust off, try some 0000 bronze or steel wool and some Kroil. That should help get it all out. Then try something like GunSheath to keep it down. You might contact CZ because this does not sound normal and may be a warranty issue.

<eldeguello>It sounds to me like the bluing solution was not adequately killed and rinsed after bluing the barrel. The solution is still working. I believe any gunsmith who does hot bluing could stop this from happening! In the interim, scour out the bore & chamber with J.B. Compound. Next clean out the J.B. with a good solvent, then use a bunch of dry patches to get the solvent out, followed by a good coating of Birchwood-Casey Sheath on a couple of saturated patches. Repeat the Sheath treatment every day for about 10 days. Hopefully, this will prevent any further deterioration of the bore & chamber!
