Glad you got your floormetal first. Only fitting since you were the first to send money.

Last Friday I finally sent Butch and Richj's out. I hope Rich's barreled action gets back to him much faster than it took to get here. Over 20 days USPS. We thought it might be lost. I returned it to him registered return receipt.

The rest are going out THIS WEEK! Thanks to everyone for their patience. Need to buy some more mailing boxes and finish checkering the floorplate release on some.

Due to the differences I've found on the stamped mag boxes, I think most of these will need the tab that holds box to the rails filed to fit the slot I've milled. MAKE SURE to keep the outside of the box centered with the outside of the rails when doing this. My first minix had a box that was lopsided so I had to file much more off one side of the tab than the other. Use the washer that came with the box, or put one on the new 6-32 socket head cap screw I've provided and only when you've got the box fit & washer installed should you shorten the screw if needed. With a thicker washer you won't need to shorten the screw at all.

The front of the mag box varies as well. You only need to file a shallow 5/16" wide notch where the box interfears with the floorplate hinge. Again this notch can be used to center the box since the Yugo's didn't think it too necessary.

The pillars may need to be shortened as well.

If anyone doesn't like the floormetals they can send them back & I'll refund their money as long as they haven't been altered.

My address is changing to South Dakota at the end of this month so people should contact me with a private message through the AR forums here for a while.

Terry,
Be patient a little longer.... I bet you've heard that before. I'm working night and day to get a gun ready for myself. I've got a three week trip to alaska coming up on the 7th of september. It would be sad to show up without a gun.

Gunmaker,
How much are your bottom metal assemblies going for, and do you have more?

Thanks,
Shane Thompson

The floormetals are $250 each. I'll pay shipping in USA. They are not polished. Here's some pics of the origional that is polished.

I have a Mini-X, but it is in a B&C camo stock. So $250 for bottom metal and $1,000 for a walnut stock. killpc

Now that you have that program programed into your CNC Mill, I am wondering how hard it would be to adapt that program to other Mauser actions, say for example the short Yugo actions or the Mexican Actions, etc.?

My minix trigger guard is too small for the 98 mauser actions. It will look good below a CZ527 or little Sako. The real 98 actions have an integral magazine box, the minix doesn't. My programs for the minix couldn't just be scaled up and work for the 98 mauser.

I was thinking about offering a kit that would include a custom trigger guard, floorplate & release that you could silver solder or tig weld to your origional yugo or standard 98 box and then fit the hinge and drill the hinge pin. It would, of course have to be cheaper than a finished floormetal. If I offer a mauser floormetal It would have to be priced right with the others on the market. For now though I'd like to offer things that aren't available anywhere else.

Even though I've got all the programs in my Milltronics CNC, I'm hoping to sell it CHEAP before I move to South Dakota.

This is what is needed for the Mauser 98 & a sheet metal magazine box could be made for it.

Gunmaker,

Those look real nice. I've got a couple of the minis that need bottom metal. When I get back from AK and recover I'll get ahold of you.
