Mark GBloodied the Montana
Performance report on the my M1999.

Well it didn't take me long to test the M1999 on game.
The subject was just a small (100 lb) whitetale spike buck. The shot was only about 30 yards, and not much of a test for the 30-06. The 165 gr Nosler Partition preformed flawlesly. (Oddly enough this was my first time using a Nosler Partition bullet, and I am approching 100 big game kills) Weird huh. I was/am a big Hornady fan for years.
Anyway I thought I may have missed at the shot because I didn't here any thrashing around. But then I didn't hear any running either. After walking over to where the buck had been I found him in a ditch like depression in the ground taking his last breath. It was that dramatic, he never even twitched. I had a similar thing happen during muzzle loader season this year, but that buck was hit with a 45 cal, 300 gr projectile.
The 165 gr partition cleanly penetrated both shoulders and exited. The wound channel was what you would expect. 30cal going in, and 1.5"-2" exit. Total devestation of the lungs, inbetween.
That was a good confidence builder kill. All I can say is: NEXT....
(sorry no pics of the kill, it was just a spike

)
