Either is good, get the cheapest.

I've used Devcon once and Acra-glass (and gel) several times.

I like the way the Acra products take dye better than the Devcon.

However, I think Devcon is easier to work with and to me is much harder.

thats exactly what i have read, that the Devcon is much harder than the REGULAR acraglas, but i wonder how the STEEL acraglas stacks up to it. coloring is not an issue in this case though.

Bedding materials mentioned all have worked for me in the past, but my preference is Marine Tex.
Mixing ratio more complicated than some others, but if done correctly will give excellent results. Used it on service rifles, M1Garand, M14's, and those rifles give the bedding a workout, but does good job. Just a thought.

I'll second this... my experience is the same.

I use a little scale to be certain I'm dead on the mixing ratio. It's easier than guessing and worrying.

Which Devcon are you using? I've used the Stainless Steel Putty and got good results, but that stuff is expensive. Is it the Plastic Steel that is more commonly used?

Acra-glas is supposed to have the longest shelf life .
I have two rifles bedded with Acra-glas , still in excellent shape after 40+ years !! Big Grin

I too have rifles I glassed that long ago and the Acra-glas bedding is just fine.
