<slancey>I'm wondering if you meant to ask about the difference between 25-06 Neidner and 25-06 Remington.

C.S. Justiceslancey,
You are correct, I changed the post to read 25-06 Rem. Maybe my fingers are faster than my brain....or old and senile... Thanks, CSJ

olarmyThe Neidner was the name of the 25/06 when it was a wildcat round. Remington made it a factory round in 1969. There should be no practical difference in performance. However, if you have an old Neidner, I'd have it checked by a gunsmith before shooting factory ammo in it. Jim

C.S. Justiceolarmy,
Thanks, a guy I work with has been looking for a 25-06 for deer hunting and came up with a 25-06 Neidner somewhere.
I have a set of 30-06 headspace gauges that are supposed to work for anything 30-06 based.... I'll try checking it for him. CSJ

ZERMELThe 25
Niedner(spelling)as it is called never used the name 25-06. The 25 Niedner is quite a bit different from the 25-06 Rem. The Niedner is 20 thou shorter and the neck is 77 thou longer and the shoulder is 21.5 instead of the 25- 06 17.5 degrees. It looks similar but not quite the same. Fred M

C.S. JusticeZermel,
Thank you very much.... guess my 06 Headspace Guages are not going do a lot of good..... maybe he can find a set dies and load for it or rebarrel to 25-06. CSJ

ZERMELSimply run in a 25-06 reamer. The chamber will clean ok unless the shoulder is oversize. It should be .441" same as the 25-06. Fred M.
